Reading a Chart

Putting it together — how grahas, rashis, bhavas, and the lagna combine.

Four layers, one picture

Everything you've met now stacks into a single statement. For any planet:

> a graha sits in a rashi and a bhava, measured from the lagna, at a nakshatra.

That one sentence is the skeleton of every chart reading.

A worked example

Say someone has Mesha (Aries) lagna, and Guru (Jupiter) sits in Karka (Cancer).

• The lagna is Mesha → the 1st house.
• Counting from Mesha, Karka is the 4th house.
• So Guru is in Karka, in the 4th bhava — and we'd note its nakshatra for finer detail.

Structure first; meaning is built on top of it.

Structure before prediction

Notice what we did not do: we made no prediction. Reading a chart starts as pure bookkeeping — locate each graha by sign, house, and nakshatra.

Interpretation comes only after the structure is clear — and even then, Jyotish speaks of tendencies and timing, never fixed fate.
