A node borrows its agenda

A graha's agenda normally comes from the houses it rules. A node rules nothing, so it takes on the agenda of what it is connected to.

The first connection is its dispositor: the lord of the sign the node occupies. Rahu in Leo works for the Sun. Ketu in Aquarius works for Saturn.

The dispositor's own condition matters too: which houses it rules, where it sits, and how dignified it is. That tells you how well the node's borrowed agenda gets delivered.

This suite's reading app works the same way. When its timing readings name a Rahu or Ketu period, they check that window against the dispositor's condition before phrasing it confidently.

Second employer: the nakshatra lord

Every node sits in a nakshatra, and every nakshatra has a Vimshottari lord (the Nakshatras chapter teaches all 27). That lord is the node's second employer.

Rahu in Pushya, which falls in Cancer, works for the Moon by sign and Saturn by star.

Two special cases:

A node in its own star. Rahu in Ardra, Swati or Shatabhisha, or Ketu in Ashwini, Magha or Mula. The star lord is the node itself, so this channel adds no new employer and the sign lord carries more of the weight.
A node in the other node's star, such as Rahu in Magha. The star lord is Ketu, so the axis is talking to itself.

Third channel: the company it keeps

A node sharing a sign with a graha takes on that graha's significations and colours them.

Rahu tends to amplify: more appetite, more intensity, more of the unconventional or unfamiliar. Venus with Rahu can read as desire and taste turned up.
Ketu tends to strip back or turn inward: less display, less attachment, often sharper focus. Venus with Ketu can read as refinement without much interest in showing it.

One named case you will meet is Guru Chandala. The engine flags it when Jupiter shares a sign with either node. In a 2000–2040 engine run that was true about 1 moment in 6. Read it as Jupiter's wisdom meeting an unconventional or questioning influence. It is a flag to look at, not a verdict.

The engine spells it out

The clearest statement of this logic in the engine sits in its KP module (Krishnamurti Paddhati, a different school with the same idea). There, a node is an agent for:

1. its star lord
2. its sign lord (dispositor)
3. any graha in the same sign
4. any graha aspecting the node

Only the seven physical grahas count, so a node never stands for a node. That matches a standard KP program's output exactly.

Reading Rahu through its employers

Libra lagna. Rahu at 8° Cancer (10th house), Ketu at 8° Capricorn (4th house). The Moon is in Taurus (8th house, exalted). Saturn is in Aquarius (5th house, own sign).

1. Axis: 4/10. Rahu amplifies career and public life; Ketu sits at home and roots.
2. Rahu's dispositor: Cancer's lord is the Moon, exalted in the 8th. The career drive runs through depth, research and other people's resources, and the Moon is strong enough to carry it.
3. Rahu's star: 8° Cancer is Pushya, ruled by Saturn. For Libra lagna Saturn rules the 4th and 5th, and it sits in its own sign in the 5th. That adds patient, structured, intellectual work.
4. Ketu's employers: Capricorn's lord is Saturn again. Its star is Uttara Ashadha, ruled by the Sun, lord of the 11th.

Read: an ambitious, public-facing drive that works best through structure and depth. Home and roots may matter less to this person than the wider world. That describes where the node's energy goes. It does not predict any event.

Remember it

Sign lord, star lord, company kept. A node owns nothing, so ask who it works for, then ask how well that employer is doing.
