The career chart, and how the sixteen divisionals fit together.

The dasamsa (D10)

The dasamsa divides each sign into ten parts of 3° each — 120 around the zodiac. It is the chart for career, profession and public action.

The relationship to the rasi chart mirrors the D9's: the rasi 10th house says what the career is about; the D10 says how it actually goes and what it amounts to. A 10th lord that looks strong in D1 and collapses in D10 describes a career that promises more than it returns.

After the D9, this is the divisional you'll reach for most.

Shodashavarga — the sixteen

The classical set is the shodashavarga, sixteen divisionals:

How many to actually use

Honest guidance, because this is where advanced study goes wrong.

Most working practitioners read the D1 and the D9 constantly, the D10 for career questions, and reach for a third only when a specific question demands it — the D7 for children, the D4 for property.

The remaining divisionals are real and classical, but the returns fall off fast, the birth-time requirements climb steeply, and the risk of finding patterns in noise climbs with them. The D60 in particular requires a rectified birth time to mean anything at all.

More charts is not more insight. It is usually more confirmation bias.

How a varga strengthens a judgement

Recall the repetition rule from Synthesis: a theme stated by three independent factors is signal.

A varga gives you another independent witness. If the 10th lord is strong in D1, Saturn (karaka of work) is dignified, and the 10th lord holds up in D10 — that's three, and one of them is from a different chart entirely.

That is the right use of divisionals: not as a source of new pronouncements, but as additional witnesses to a theme you are already testing.

Remember it

D9 for marriage and substance, D10 for career, the rest on demand. Sixteen exist; two carry most of the weight; a varga is a witness, not a verdict.
