Everything, applied once, in order.

A worked chart

Take a chart with Aries lagna, and the question "how does work go for this person?"

Pass 1 — Lagna. Aries rises. So the 10th house is Capricorn, ruled by Saturn.

Pass 2 — Lagna lord. Mars rules Aries. Say Mars sits in the 10th (Capricorn) — where it is exalted. Strong footing, pointed straight at career.

Pass 3 — The house in question. The 10th holds Capricorn and Mars. Its lord Saturn sits in, say, the 6th (Virgo) — a dusthana, but also an upachaya, the house of service, competition and daily work.

The remaining passes

Pass 4 — Contacts. Mars in the 10th aspects the 4th, 1st and 5th (its 4/7/8). Saturn in the 6th aspects the 8th, 12th and 3rd (its 3/7/10) — so Saturn does not aspect back to the 10th.

Pass 5 — Timing. Whichever of Mars or Saturn is running decides which half of this story is live.

Pass 6 — Patterns. Mars exalted in a kendra from the lagna is Ruchaka Yoga, one of the Pancha Mahapurusha. And Saturn — the 10th lord — sitting in the 6th is a dusthana placement, though not a Vipareeta (Saturn rules the 10th here, not a dusthana).

Now weigh it

Count the witnesses on capability: exalted Mars, in the 10th, forming Ruchaka, with the lagna lord itself pointed at career. Four factors, all agreeing. That's a theme.

Count the witnesses on the manner of it: the 10th lord in the 6th — work that runs through service, competition, problem-solving, obligation. Saturn as karaka of work is also the 10th lord, so it speaks twice.

And the tension: strong, visible capability (Mars) working through grinding, unglamorous, contested ground (Saturn in the 6th). Don't average those. Say both.

The reading, written out

Lagna, lord, house, contacts, timing, pattern — then count the witnesses, hold the tension, and show your working.

That is the whole method. Everything further — divisional charts, transits, compatibility, the finer dasha systems — refines this loop. It never replaces it.
