Yuti — Conjunction

Yuti is the closest contact there is

Yuti (conjunction) is simply two or more grahas in the same sign. No counting required — you can see it at a glance on the chakra.

It is the strongest form of contact between grahas. Where an aspect is a gaze across the room, a conjunction is standing shoulder to shoulder: both grahas act on the same house, at the same time, and blend into each other's expression.

What a conjunction does

Two effects, always:

1. Both grahas act on that house. Mercury and Venus in the 10th means the career house gets both intellect and refinement.
2. They colour each other. Mercury next to Venus argues more gracefully; Mercury next to Mars argues more sharply. Neither planet is quite itself alone any more.

That second effect is the one beginners miss.

Whether it helps depends on who

A conjunction is not automatically good or bad — it depends entirely on which grahas are involved.

Two natural benefics (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, waxing Moon) together generally support the house. A natural malefic (Saturn, Mars, Sun, Rahu, Ketu) brings pressure — which is not the same as harm: pressure on the 10th can read as a demanding career that forges competence.

The same is true of aspects. Who is looking decides what the gaze means.

Named conjunctions you'll meet

Some conjunctions are common enough to have names — you'll meet these again in the Yogas chapter:

Budhaditya — Sun + Mercury in one sign. Very common (Mercury never strays far from the Sun), classically read as clarity of intellect and expression.

Chandra-Mangala — Moon + Mars in one sign. Emotional drive married to action; classically tied to resourcefulness and earning.

Both are just yuti with a name attached. You already know how to spot them.

Remember it

Same sign = standing together; 7th apart = looking at each other. Conjunction blends two grahas into one voice; aspect keeps them separate but connected.
