Saturn is the taskmaster

Shani (Saturn) signifies time, discipline, labor, longevity, sorrow, and detachment. The slowest of the visible grahas, it teaches through patience and limitation — hard but fair.

Where Shani shines

Shani rules Makara (Capricorn) and Kumbha (Aquarius). It is exalted in Tula (Libra) and debilitated in Mesha (Aries) — discipline thrives in balance, struggles in raw impulse.

The shadow planets

Rahu and Ketu are the lunar nodes — chhaya grahas (shadow planets), not physical bodies. They are always exactly opposite each other and move backward through the zodiac.

Grasp and release

Rahu is hunger: obsession, ambition, the foreign and unconventional, illusion (maya). Ketu is the opposite pole: detachment, spirituality, moksha, and the residue of the past. Rahu grabs; Ketu lets go.

Remember it

Rahu reaches; Ketu renounces. Both point at the same axis of karma from opposite ends.
