The cycle repeats, starting from your lord

The 9 Mahadashas always run in the same fixed cyclic order — Ketu → Venus → Sun → Moon → Mars → Rahu → Jupiter → Saturn → Mercury → back to Ketu. Your personal timeline just starts partway through this cycle, at your janma-nakshatra lord, and runs the full 120 years from there.

Back-to-back, never overlapping

Each Mahadasha ends exactly when the next begins — there's no gap and no overlap. If your first Mahadasha is Jupiter (16 years), your second is Saturn (19 years), starting the day Jupiter's ends, and so on around the cycle.

A worked example

Say someone's janma nakshatra is ruled by Mars. Their Mahadasha order runs:

Mars (7) → Rahu (18) → Jupiter (16) → Saturn (19) → Mercury (17) → Ketu (7) → Venus (20) → Sun (6) → Moon (10)

— the same 9 lords, same fixed years, just starting from Mars instead of Ketu.

Remember it

The cycle never changes — only where you enter it changes. Everyone rides the same 120-year wheel; your birth star just decides your boarding point.
